The inspiration for the creation was the Common Snapping Turtle. A big shout-out to local member, Kristin Rubin and local college students, Sarah Lockhart and Alanis Gonzalez, for their assistance in the construction of the artwork.
The display of Turtle Island at the 5th Ave Arts Festival was a great success. It inspired attendees to stop by our booth and sign postcards to Publix demanding they stop using single-use plastic bags. We collected over 80 postcards!
